Guar Gum for Thickening, Stabilizing & Smooth Texture

Guar Gum is derived from the ground endosperm of the guar plant (Cyanmopsis tetragonolobus), a member of the Leguminosae family. Grown primarily in India and Pakistan, the seeds are harvested, extracted, and milled into a fine powder used widely in cosmetic and personal care formulations.

Natural Thickening & Stabilizing Properties

Guar Gum is water-soluble and provides excellent thickening, suspension, and stabilizing effects in gels, lotions, cleansers, and other water-based formulations. Its ability to create smooth, uniform texture makes it a versatile ingredient for both skincare and haircare products.

Proper Mixing & Usage Recommendations

For best results, Guar Gum should be added in small increments while stirring thoroughly after each addition. Adding too much at once can cause clumping or fast gelling. It performs well in formulas that may be frozen but should not be used in high heat or in products with pH above 8 or below 5.

Formulation Notes & Compatibility

Guar Gum should not be used in formulas containing Borax or Calcium, as these ingredients affect its stability and thickening performance. When used correctly, Guar Gum offers smooth thickening action, improved texture, and natural stabilization for a wide range of cosmetic applications.
